Surely the vast majority of my readers have had to install, at some point, a VPN application, usually for network gaming, file sharing, remote servicing, etc. However, in some cases these networks fail to miss the connection point, for it is Leaf Networks.
Leaf Networks is a free application from Leaf Networks, LLC (now of NETGEAR ) to establish private networks in order to share network devices such as Xbox, Windows Media Center, printers, etc. Between their users through Internet.
This application differs from the others of its kind, because as they say [1] have managed to solve the performance degradation that has its applications rivals down tunnel network traffic over a TCP Socket reaching to 40% reduction in bandwidth, ensuring the connectivity of the total bandwidth between two connected computadors.
Well for those who want to play in a network with your friends or share files over the Internet I recommend this application, because I tried and so far has not given me any problems.
Its operation is very simple and can be summarized in five steps:
1. Download and install the application from here .
2. In the identification window, enter your User ID and Password . If you have Leaf Networks account, you can create a link in a new account Get this window and get a new record of identification. Always remember your User ID to share it with people who want to establish the private network, so they can locate you easily.
3. When the application terminates to register our User ID can add to people who want to establish a private network, for this we click the Add Member main window and again click the Add Member In the window that appears ( Add / Romove members). Then it shows this window where we can add your friends via User ID, full name or email address, click the Look up , we select the user and finally click on Next> > .
4. When you finish adding all users in your private network (also for when you add more users) and they have accepted the invitation to join your network is necessary to grant permissions to each one, for it tab Share you click on the Permissions button option Private Network this window and select a user on your network that want to establish a private network, finally click on OK. It should be noted that others should do the same for you, ie, they must also give permission to the private network.
5. For latter to corroborate your connectivity with other network members, can do a PING to each of the IP addresses assigned to virtual network members thereof. You do this in the Windows Command Prompt Windows, with the following code:
Congratulations! You can play network with friends, any game of your choice. Now you do not have to worry that the network is dropped or reduce the bandwidth and you can experience the game as if you were playing in a real LAN network.
As a picture is worth a thousand words, here 's a video tutorial to install and configure the Leaf Network. Watch Video>
